IITs To Start New PG Courses For Art Subjects; No JEE Score Needed
IIT Delhi has launched a brand new Master’s course in Culture, Society and Thought.

Students have to achieve good scores in the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE), which is held twice a year now, to secure admission to Indian Institute Of Technology (IIT). For undergraduate courses, the candidate has to qualify JEE Advance, whereas for postgraduate courses and PhD, the students have to qualify GATE, CSIR or other national-level entrance exams to get admitted to IITs. Now, in the upcoming session of 2024-25, the IIT Patna will be adding PG courses in Art subjects, along with research in humanity and social sciences. The studies on social work and policy making will also be added. As per the latest reports, the students can be admitted to these courses without passing JEE.

A proposal of the same will be presented to the Senate of IIT Patna to start PG studies. The rules are being prepared for registration. Till now there was only PhD in Humanities and Social Sciences, but now two-year PG studies in Arts will start in various IITs across the country. IIT Patna currently offers management courses apart from BTech. From this academic session, IIT Delhi is starting PG courses in Sociology, Literature and Philosophy.

IIT Delhi has also launched a brand new Master’s course in Culture, Society and Thought under the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences. The application form will start on March 20, 2024. It will be available on the official website of IIT Delhi – https://home.iitd.ac.in/. The classes will begin in July 2024. The candidates need to qualify for the entrance exam which will be conducted by the institute. It will be followed by an interview. The students do not need to pass the JEE, GATE or CSIR to get admitted for this course. The last date to apply is April 4. The duration of the course will be two years. The candidate must have completed their graduation with 55 percent marks or an equivalent CGPA.

Through these new courses, it is believed that IIT is opening its doors for the Humanities and Arts PG courses. While talking to Local18, an official of IIT Patna said that they are considering launching new PG programs in Humanities and Social Science in the upcoming session.
