THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The full budget session of the State Assembly will commence on September 26, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said here on Wednesday. Talking to reporters after the Cabinet meeting, he said that the session would be on up to the first week of November.On other Cabinet decisions, Chandy said that government employees would be given Rs 8,500 as Onam advance. Last year, it was Rs 7,500. The festival allowance this year is Rs 1,700. The bonus for PSU employees will be the same as that of last year. The Cabinet also decided to give Rs 2900 as bonus for employees drawing Rs 13000 in revised scale. A bonus of Rs 550 will be given to service pensioners and Rs 450 to family pensioners.A special Cabinet meeting will be held on Friday to discuss the bonus of other government employees.APPOINTED: The Cabinet decided to appoint C P John as ex-officio member of the State Planning Board. Administrative Secretariat Service will be made part of the State Civil Service. At present, only the Revenue Department is considered part of the State Civil Service. The government will study the possibility of making other departments also a part of the SCS, Chandy said.SOLATIUM: The Cabinet has sanctioned Rs 5 lakh as solatium to the family of music director Johnson who died on August 18.KELTRON: The Cabinet has sanctioned a modernisation project for KELTRON.APPOINTMENTS: V P Joy has been appointed Finance Secretary. He will continue to be in charge of Taxes. Teeka Ram Meena is the new Fisheries Secretary. Tourism director Rathan Khelkar has been appointed director of Grand Kerala Shopping Festival.
