BARIPADA: Suliapada Police on Monday recovered the body of Bhagabat Marandi (26) alias Bhada from Jhaunria forest bordering Mayurbhanj district. Bhada was an active Maoist cadre in East Midnapore district of West Bengal.Police said his body was found hanging from a tree in the forest, nearly 200 metres from his village, Pala. He is suspected to have committed suicide. Sources said he carried a cash award of ` 3 lakh on his head.Sub Divisional Police Officer of Baripada Sadar Sudhakar Jena said the Maoist had been active for the last couple of years and never came home during the period.Villagers saw his body hanging and later informed Suliapada police station.“Bhada was involved in two murder cases and a dacoity under Suliapada police limits. He had killed a sawmill owner Goutam Hatoi on October 9, 2010 in Kathasirsha village and murdered Sukanta Murmu on October 15 the same year in Handibhanga village suspecting him to be a police informer,” he said. His body was brought to Baripada district headquarters hospital on Monday afternoon for postmortem. “Investigation is on to ascertain the cause of death,” the police officer added.
