CHENNAI: A three-day token strike called by thousands of retail dealers in the state selling mobile phone recharge vouchers has ended on Saturday after the major service providers agreed to look into their grievances on commission charges. According to a Nanganallur-based dealer selling mobile phone recharge vouchers, after the 72-hour state-wide strike, service providers have now agreed to rework on their commission charges, to be given to every retailer, for selling their recharge vouchers. Thousands of retail dealers across the state went on strike since Thursday protesting the sudden change in commission charges meant for them from the service providers.According to a dealer, without any proper communication or explanation, service providers have brought down the mobile recharge commission for retailers from 3.8 per cent to 3.3 per cent, which roughly work out to Rs 33 for every Rs 1,000.If the service operators fail to finalise a new commission pattern to the retailers, we would be forced to stage another strike soon, one of the dealers told Express. The city alone has over 15,000 retail shops and the state may be having about 50,000 such recharge centres.
