BHUBANESWAR: The alleged horsetrading during last year's Rajya Sabha elections has come back to haunt the top BJD leaders.A complaint has been filed against Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and others for their 'tacit involvement' in the purchase of Opposition MLAs. It was filed by State convener of the Jana Andolana Samanyaya Samiti Debi Prusty at the capital police station here on Friday. Others named in the complaint include BJD strategist and Rajya Sabha member Pyarimohan Mohapatra, Minister of State for Energy Atanu Sabysachi Nayak, Minister of State for Labour and Employment Pushpendra Singhdeo and Shibaji Majhi, one of the two Congress MLAs who had remained absent during the voting.
The police, however, are yet to register a case in this connection. The contents of the complaint are being examined, police sources said.Quoting from several newspaper reports, Prusty said it was obvious that BJD successfully indulged in horsetrading as all the three candidates of the party won without having the numbers.
