Kolkata: Supermodels like Milind Soman and Noyonika Chatterji can take a break from the ramp.
It's time for the likes of Gabush, a seven-month-old pug and Cheena, a two-year-old Great Den to take over.
In a unique effort to raise funds for animals, Animal Relief and Care Society, a Kolkata-based NGO, put over a dozen pets on the ramp with their celebrity owners in a show called Claws, Paws, Tails and Style.
The four-legged beauties took to the ramp with panache and seemed to enjoy the adulation that the thousand-strong audience showered on them.
"When you put animals on the ramp you feel an immediate bond with them, I think that is something special," Oindrilla Dutta, organiser, said.
The special evening had some special guests including a Golden Retriver, a St.Bernard, a Basset Hound and Chihuahua the smallest dog in the world.
The walk into stardom has come with cash reward too as these adorable animals have managed to raise over Rs 2 lakh from ticket sales alone.
"The NGO will get a medical mobile unit for treatment of animals all over the city and also a trauma handling unit," Dutta said.
With the mobile unit in tow, the NGO now hopes to treat stray dogs and disowned pets on the streets of the city of joy.
