Chennai: India have completed their league engagements at the seventh BSNL Asia Cup hockey tournament in Chennai with a 16-0 thrashing of Thailand on Thursday.
With this win, India topped group B and will now play Japan in the semi-final on Saturday.
The other semi-final will be between South Korea and Malaysia.
Against a hopelessly outmatched opponent, India scored at will in the game.
Raghunath pumped in as many as six goals and there were also hat-tricks for Rajpal Singh and Prabhjot Singh. Tushar Khandekar also scored a couple of goals.
India had rested captain Dilip Tirkey for this match.
Asian Games champion Korea and Japan scored thumping victories in their last league matches to set up semi-final clashes with Malaysia and India respectively.
Japan blanked Singapore 8-0 to finish second in the five-team Pool A behind Malaysia. Japan have nine points after three wins and one loss while Malaysia gathered 10 points courtesy three wins and one draw.
Two-time winners Korea also scored a 8-0 win over Bangladesh to take the second place in the six-team Pool B, edging out China on better goal difference.
