BANGALORE: Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy on Friday said that the JD(S) would emerge stronger and become a potent force in the Hyderabad-Karnataka region.
"After the exit of Karadi Sanganna from the party to BJP, an impression was created that the JD(S) is dead in that region. But with the joining of Pradeep Patil and 21 local leaders in Koppal, the party is going to gain in strength as days go," Kumaraswamy said while speaking to reporters in his party office here. Pradeep Patil is the son of former MLA Virupakshagouda Mali Patil, who joined the JD(S) along with several local leaders including gram panchayat members.

Kumaraswamy claimed that the proposed tour of the party leaders in North Karnataka region from June 15 will galvanise the party cadre in order to take on the BJP effectively. "A number of leaders from other parties have expressed their desire to join JD(S). We will hold a mammoth conference to create an atmosphere," he added.

Kumaraswamy also urged the state government to give compensation to all those who have died on account of trampling by elephant during the past three decades.
