Kochi vows to shun tobacco

KOCHI: As part of the district administration’s ‘Tobacco-Free Kochi’ campaign and the ‘World No-Tobacco Day’ observation on Thursday, District Collector P I Sheik Pareeth, Additional District Magistrate E K Sujatha, Collectorate staff and various NGOs took an oath on Wednesday stating that, ‘A tobacco-free Kochi is not a mere dream but a reality.’The oath taking was a precursor to the anti-tobacco oath to be taken by the staff in various offices and the students of the city schools at 11 am on Thursday.The Collector instructed all the officials concerned to strictly enforce the recent ban on pan masala.
