New Delhi: On any other day this would have been viewed as just another party in the Capital where politicos rub shoulders with celebs and wannabes. But yesterday was different. While the financial capital was trying to come to terms with yet another terrorist attack, several politicians and celebrities were having a gala time at a Delhi party with models wearing sequinned dresses and gowns.
MiD Day was at the event at hotel Grand, organised by Ashok Kumar Pradhan, former Union minister and senior BJP leader. The occasion was his daughter, a fashion designer, presenting her debut collection of classic romance.
Among others, from the political circle, were tourism minister Subodh Kant Sahay and BJP national general secretary and Delhi's former mayor Arti Mehra. BJP national secretary Vani Tripathi was also present. Neelam Pratap Rudy, wife of former civil aviation minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy was there too.
Even Mumbai celebs including, Suresh Oberoi, Madhur Bhandarkar, Mugdha Godse and Anushka Sharma, were having gala time with their Delhi friends.
When MiD Day tried to speak to Arti Mehra, she said: "I am feeling sad about it (the Mumbai blasts). But again, life must go on. Ashok is like a big brother to me. I am here only for him." "Even after incidents like these, life doesn't come to a standstill. We should continue doing whatever we are doing," said Subodh Kant Sahay.
From Delhi party circles there were Renu Tandon, Anajna Kuthiala and FDCI president Sunil Sethi.
Mugdha Godse though had no idea she was partying on the 'wrong' day. But she had an advice for the government. "State and central government should pull up their socks," she said, when asked to comment on the Mumbai blasts. On the other hand Madhur Bhandarkar, when asked about his presence, said: "I am sad. I didn't want to come on a day like this. But again he (Ashok Pradhan) is a dear friend. I couldn't skip it."
