BANGALORE:: Karnataka Lokayukta Justice N Santosh Hegde was upset after his much investigated illegal mining scam report was leaked.The report was leaked before it was submitted to the government as it included big names, including Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa.A visibly upset Hegde told reporters on Thursday morning that he would take full responsibility of this episode, though he admitted that the leak was not from his office. He stressed that his phones were being tapped for the last three to four months and suspected some other ‘hands’ in this. Hegde said that he has all the documents to prove the allegations in his report and it would be submitted to the government soon. Meanwhile, Hegde also said that the safety of the officials looking into the mining scam will be ensured. “U V Singh, who was spearheading the mining report, was attacked by a local corporator over a trivial issue. Then other officials who face threats from influential and powerful people in the state have much more to fear,” he added.Meanwhile, Lokayukta Hegde was extremely disturbed over the leakage of the mining report. While addressing the press on Thursday morning, even though he answered questions patiently, his voice was shivering and he was teary eyed. Unable to control his emotions, he walked out of the press meet.Hegde is known to keep his cell phone on 24/7, and never hesitates to take calls from anybody in need, be it the rich or common man. But on Thursday, he switched off his phone for the first time, for the entire day. He did not even hand it over to his personal secretary.
