New Delhi: Aamir Khan's TV show 'Satyamev Jayate' has stirred a debate about the issue of child sexual abuse. The show has brought the problem into the limelight.
The stats shown on the show are alarming and compel to do a reality check. Aamir Khan was praised for highlighting the plight of the girl child in the first episode, and he was openly supported by Bollywood in his endeavour. This time too, the B-town has backed up his efforts.
Bollywood actress Dia Mirza tweeted, "If a different issue is going to be in focus each week on 'Satyamev Jayate', will WE just be moved and move on? Let us not let that happen."
Anjana Sukhani echoed her sentiments, "Can't stop my tears watchin satyamev jayate ......pls watch n create awareness."
Many other celebrities including Anurag Kashyap admired Aamir Khan for his brave stand, "Is people's attention to child abuse/female Foetecide more imp or the fact that some1 else has fought the same battle w lmtd success fr yrs."
He further wrote on twitter, "NGO's have always wanted celebs to endorse their cause from the very beginning for it to be noticed, now sm1 is doing it with such elan... instead of critcising him one should be thankful and as far as weakness of the show is concerned i m sure AK will welcome suggestions."
Last week, stalwarts such as Dilip Kumar had shown happiness over Aamir Khan's concern towards some of the glaring problems of the society.
Bollywood has shown solidarity with Aamir Khan so far, and thus the makers of 'Satyamev Jayate' will feel pressurised to come up with equally good shows in the coming weeks too.
