Worried Yeddyurappa?

- KJP chief BS Yeddyurappa is a worried man. The Modi faction in the BJP has been wooing him back. He is also not averse to the idea of returning to the saffron party, which he singlehandedly built and brought to power in Karnataka. A self styled godman with close RSS links from Bangalore is forcing him to go with Modi. But many of his KJP colleagues are not enthusiastic about returning to the BJP. They are favouring a tie up with the ruling Congress. According to his close circle the Congress is not keen on having a formal tie up with him. He does not want an informal arrangement, last heard.

- Some of his party leaders are now looking at his one time bete noire, the Gowdas JDS. They feel that a Vokkaliga and a Lingayat combination will help them in splitting the votes in a big way in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. A close confidante said 'his heart is still in the BJP. But, his head is telling him not to return'!

- Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah seems to have finally decided to get closer to industrialists to change his 'socialist' image. The CM, who was not friendly with the corporate world, is travelling to China with a delegation to participate in an economic conference this week. His close aides say he wants to attract foreign direct investment to improve the state's infrastructure. This comes as some good news for the upset business leaders in Bangalore.

- After the daring escape and arrest of serial rapist and killer 'Psycho Shankar', the spotlight is now on the Karnataka Police. Many top IPS officers admit that the morale is very low and the force is looking directionless in the state. They blame the current DGP Lalrokhuma Pachau for the current state of affairs in the police department. Pachau, a 1977 batch IPS officer, is a native of Mizoram. Nobody has a problem with that. Top policemen say Pachau is too mild and finding it difficult to hold the force together. Moreover, he has spent most of his career outside the state and is not even familiar with his cadre state. His can barely speak Kannada. The upset police officers have to cope up with him for more than one year as he is retiring only in early 2015.

Andhra Pradesh

- The Seemandhra bandh has been going on for over a month. After Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde made it clear that the Law ministry note will be sent to the Cabinet for the creation of Telangana, pro-united AP protestors seem to have realized the futility of their indefinite strike. Many agitating people are slowly returning to work and the rest are expected to follow them soon. However, it is not making the Telangana hero K Chandrashekhara Rao happy. Proposal to make Hyderabad a Union Territory has upset him so much that he is not coming out these days. According to his family sources, he has already extracted a promise from the Centre that Hyderabad will not be made a Union Territory and he will make it public at an appropriate time.

- All eyes are on two beautiful heroines of Telugu cinema these days. Both are Lok Sabha members. Jayaprada is an MP from SP and Vijayashanthi, who won on the TRS ticket in 2009, is now with the Congress. There are strong rumours that Jayaprada might return to AP politics and contest in the 2014 Lok Sabha Polls. She was earlier a TDP Rajya Sabha member. Political watchers say her next stop would be either Congress or YSRCP.

Tamil Nadu

- Nobody in the Jayalilithaa government is safe except the most powerful and the supreme leader Amma. She makes her MLAs ministers and kicks them out in a few months. She has reshuffled her Cabinet for the 10th time in less than 30 months. The latest victim is her Primary education minister, who made it to the Cabinet just six months ago. The most interesting thing is all her ministers whom she kicks out without giving any reason keep their mouth shut. Fear of Amma!

- Tamil Nadu is known for its populist schemes. Dravida political parties managed to stay in power for decades mainly because of their innovative schemes. Jayalalithaa's Rs 5 Idli centre for the poor is a big hit. Her fruit and vegetable shops for the poor are also very popular. Amma is now launching mineral water centres for the poor people. The worried DMK does not know what to do. Somebody suggested that the DMK should distribute free SIM cards!

- John Abraham's 'Madras Cafe' is yet to be released across Tamil Nadu. The theatre owners are not interested in this film based on Tamil Eelam. A cinema critic recently remarked that even if it is released, it will surely bomb on the box office. Another critic joked that not many people knew John Abraham before 'Madras Cafe' controversy. It has at least made him popular.

Kerala

- Fed up with the factionalism in its Kerala unit, the CPM Politburo formed a committee to visit the state and hammer out a compromise. The Politburo committee's meeting gets postponed every time they send a travel plan to 'God's own country'. Because the various factions in the CPM Kerala unit are still fighting over a suitable date for the much awaited meeting. Somebody suggested that the CPM Politburo should first appoint a committee to fix a date for the meeting.

- The Oommen Chandy government is facing a fresh embarrassment from its own ally Kerala Congress (M) on a daily basis. State government's chief whip PC George, who is known for his outspokenness, is attacking the government on various issues. His own party Kerala Congress (M) is also embarrassed over his behaviour and has distanced itself from him. Insiders say a six time MLA, George, is miffed over not being made a minister in the government and will not stop his campaign till they make him a minister.

- The next Monday (September 16) is Onam, Kerala's biggest festival. Political activities, attack and counter attacks etc have taken a break till the festival!
