HYDERABAD: The CBI on Wednesday began collecting documents pertaining to projects allotted by the Y S Rajasekhara Reddy government to various companies that are being accused of making quid pro quo investments in Jagan Mohan Reddy’s companies. It is likely to question senior IAS officer BP Acharya and other officials of the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) only after pouring over the collected material. But TV channels went to town, flashing “breaking news” that Acharya was questioned and even claimed that his arrest was imminent.CBI joint director V V Lakshminarayana, however, confirmed to Express that “neither B P Acharya nor anybody else has been questioned.” Till his clarification in the evening, the channels claimed that Acharya, Jagathi. Publications director (finance) Vijay Sai Reddy and representatives of some other companies were grilled at an undisclosed location.CBI sources, though, said that before questioning anybody, they would collect the relevant documents pertaining to the allotment of projects. The agency is in the process of gathering note-sheets of the projects allotted to companies allegedly favoured by the YSR regime as a quid pro quo arrangement. The documents are being collected from various government departments“Only after we collect these documents will the questioning commence.Questioning will take some time...could be less than a week,” the sources saidThe agency would confront the accused with the documents.Sources further said that as per the rules, notices will be served on the accused specifying the date, place and time of their questioning.“There is a procedure in place for questioning. But the TV channels are going overboard,” the sources observed.
