HYDERABAD: The winter session of Assembly is likely to be held from December 2. As per the Constitutional obligation, the state Assembly should meet once in every six months. The previous session was held from June 4 to elect the speaker and deputy speaker. To fulfil the constitutional obligation, the Assembly should meet before December 3, 2011.The Assembly session is likely to be held for a week or 10 days. The Business Advisory Committee will decide on the number of days of the sessionat its meeting. The winter session is expected to be stormy as several MLAs who had quit their posts, are likely to insist for acceptance of their resignations. Issues pertaining to separate Telangana, drought in several parts of the state and corruption are expected to dominate the House proceedings.
It may be recalled here that 26 Jagan loyalist MLAs, including two TDP legislators, had resigned from their posts in protest against mentioning of former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy's name in the FIR filed by the CBI as part of its probe into illegal assets of Kadapa MP Jaganmohan Reddy. Two MLAs owing allegiance to Jagan, also resigned for the Telangana cause. In all, 32 Telangana TDP MLAs and four TDP rebels also submitted their resignations demanding a separate state.Three Telangana Congress MLAs, including a former minister and an associate member, also resigned for T. After the rejection of resignations of all the 100 Telangana MLAs by the speaker on the grounds that they quit their posts feeling emotional, 11 TRS legislators faxed their resignations. No action has been taken on the resignation of MLAs so far.
