Kader Khan's son Sarfaraz had talked at length about how the film industry neglected the late actor-writer after he migrated to Canada to live with his family. He also called actor Govinda out when the latter remembered Khan as a "father figure" in an emotional Instagram post and said the Hero No. 1 star never inquired about Khan's health, not even once, when he was alive.
"Please ask Govinda how many times he inquired about his father figure's health. Has he even bothered to call us even once after my father's passing away? This is the way our film industry has become. There are no real feelings for those who have contributed to Indian cinema when they're no longer active," Sarfaraz had told IANS.
In an interview to BBC News Hindi earlier this week, Govinda was asked about Sarfaraz's statement. Reacting to the same, the actor said, "Woh bachche hain. Aur mujhe aisa lagta hai ki main uspe comment nahi doonga (He is a kid and I feel that I won't comment on him)."
After Khan's death on January 1, Govinda paid a touching tribute to him, saying that words couldn't describe his sorrow at the death of his co-star of several years.
More often than not, the onscreen chemistry and camaraderie between Khan and Govinda was more entertaining and significant to the film than the chemistry between the hero and heroine.
Khan died at the age of 81 on December 31. His funeral was held in Toronto on January 2. At the prayer meet, Sarfaraz thanked his father’s fans and told them that seeing so many people pay respect to his father has given him a lot of courage. “My father loved you all so much that he never differentiated between us three brothers and all of you. He used to tell us that if any one of us refused to care for him, one of you will care for him,” he said.
