The Meta-owned popular instant messaging platform WhatsApp is reportedly working on new feature on Channels. According to a new report, the messaging app will soon allow channel admins to to share pools, polls as an additional tool to engage with their audience.
“Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.24.12 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on the ability to share polls in channels," WABetaInfo reported.
According to the report, it will be possible to create and share polls in channels in a future update of the app. These polls within channels will also incorporate the option to restrict responses to a single choice, mirroring the feature found in your chats and groups.
The report also revealed that poll votes feature will always be protected for added privacy. This means that when you will participate in a channel poll, your phone number is always remain hidden and is not disclosed with the channel owner and other followers.
It suggested that bringing a poll feature to channels may be very beneficial as it is the best tool to gather feedback from channel followers.
“We believe that the introduction of polls can often encourage a more active interaction compared to simple emoji reactions. We believe that this feature will definitely help channel owners gather valuable insights from their audience, and channel followers can feel more connected with the community as a whole, WABetaInfo said.
The feature to share polls in channels is under development and it will be available in a future update of the app. The Meta-owned instant messaging platform is also reportedly rolling out a new security feature to protect your account. There is a new section called “Email address" which allows users to associate an email address to their WhatsApp account for added security.
