New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Sunday accepted defeat in the Delhi assembly polls and acknowledged that her party had failed to gauge the popularity of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), saying the party had behaved "foolishly" in misjudging them.
Dikshit submitted her resignation to Lt Governor Najeeb Jung Sunday as vote count showed that the Congress may not win even a dozen seats in the 70-member assembly.
Asked whether the Congress could not sense the public mood about AAP, the 75-year-old Dikshit shot back: "Weren't we foolish ('bewqoof')" in possibly misjudging them.
The three-time chief minster, who trends showed was heading for an ignominious defeat in the New Delhi constituency, said: "I accept the election results with due respect," she added.
