Modi calls for zero tolerance towards Naxalism

Ahmedabad: Condemning attack on Congress rally in Chhattisgarh, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday called for "a policy of zero tolerance" towards terrorism and Naxalism. "Gruesome attack in Chhattisgarh is an attack on

democracy. Time has come to adopt policy of Zero Tolerance towards Terrorism & Naxalism," Modi tweeted.

Twenty-seven people, including senior Congress leader Mahendra Karma, state Congress chief Nand Kumar Patel and his son Dinesh were killed and former union minister VC Shukla and 32 others injured when Naxals ambushed a convoy of party

leaders in Bastar district on Saturday.

"Condolences to families of deceased and respects to policemen who laid down their lives. My prayers with the injured. May they recover quickly," Modi said on his Twitter account and added that "the need of the hour is to stand together as a nation and vow to fight this menace that threatens our democracy".
