A massive fire broke out in a building in Pune, Maharashtra on Tuesday. The fire broke out on the top floor of the seven-storey Marvel Vista building, where a restaurant is reportedly situated, at Lullanagar Chowk in the Kodhwa area of Pune.
Five fire tenders and three water tankers reached the spot to contain the blaze which started at 8:45 am. It was doused by 10 am.
There was no report of any casualty, a fire official said. Videos that emerged show the top floor of the building engulfed in flames as fire tenders reached the spot. In one of the videos, the roof and windows of the building can be seen collapsing with debris falling to the ground.
Police said that the area was not crowded when the blaze started, as per NDTV.
The building also houses cricketer Zaheer Khan’s restaurant on the ground floor, India Today reported. However, no damage has been reported so far.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
Meanwhile, a bus in Pune also caught fire on Tuesday at around 11:30 am. The incident took place at at Shastri Chowk in Yerawada area where a state transport bus was on its way to Pune from Yavatmal.
42 passengers in the bus escaped unhurt as the bus driver and conductor spotted the smoke and alerted people. After the passengers got down, the bus went up in flames, an official said. The cause has not yet been ascertained.
