Apple Could Bring RealityOS For Its AR/VR Headset To Work Its Magic
Apple has been rumoured to be working on its AR/VR headset for quite some time, and now the company could be headed to the final leg of the product development.

Apple’s dream of launching its own AR/VR headset could be heading to a fruitful conclusion. The company has reportedly got a trademark for the device and the platform name is likely to be called RealityOS.

Apple is reportedly planning to launch RealityOS for its upcoming augmented reality/virtual reality (AR/VR) headset.

As per the tip from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the name RealityOS has appeared in a trademark filing, “which hasn’t been officially filed by the Apple.” Some even suggested that the timing of this announcement close to the Apple WWDC 2022 keynote can’t be a coincidence.

However, Gurman says it is exactly that and people shouldn’t read much into these developments right now. He adds that filing trademarks are a common practice for large companies.

The RealityOS powered headsets are supposed to give you the ability to offer VR and AR experiences, which is easier said than done. But Apple seems confident of pulling this off.

The company is expected to use the platform to power its headset, and one of them could be launched in the market in a year or two.

Earlier this month, the company’s board of directors reportedly tried out the wearable device suggesting the product is well past the development stage now. The AR headset is expected to sport a sleek design so that it is lightweight and comfortable for the wearer to roam around for prolonged periods.

The headset is likely to have 4K micro-OLED displays, as many as 15 camera modules and powerful hardware to keep the device running. It will offer eye-tracking and hand-gesture for controls, along with spatial audio support. Going by all these features, it is hardly surprising to hear the headset could be priced at around $3000 (Rs 2.32 lakh approx) in the market.

Apple has teased us with a few hints about the AR headset, so we are hopeful the company has more to share on June 6 at the WWDC 2022 keynote.
