In the age of food experiments, some combos captivate the interest of online users swiftly. Chocolate and cheese, two food items, are the favourite among one and all. Food enthusiasts consume these two popular foods either as side dishes or blend them with some other recipes. Without a doubt, adding a slice of cheese or simply topping or mixing chocolates with any dessert enhances the flavour. Recently, an Instagram reel showing a vlogger trying hot chocolate with cheese in Colombia has taken the internet by the storm. Now, this particular fusion that may seem bizarre to many people has gathered a lot of attention online.
In the clip, the person explains that adding a little bit of a salty ingredient enhances the flavour of the chocolate. “This is why Colombians often put cheese in their hot chocolate,” the vlogger wrote.

The reel has amassed 1.5 million views in a few days and the online users were quick to react. In the comments, many people expressed their interest in trying out this combination while some found the idea weird. A user said, “Took me a while to come round to the idea… But it’s amazing, isn’t it?” “Probably taste great but psychologically no,” a food enthusiast wrote. An account remarked, “Asian coffee shops put salty cream on their coffee and I love it. I never saw this but it might actually taste good too.” A few reports suggest mixing cheese and chocolate is not new for Colombians. They have traditionally enjoyed this combination in the form of a warm beverage called chocolate santafereno or chocolate completo.
However, many fusions involving chocolates had earlier failed to impress the netizens. A while ago, a viral recipe, ‘Chocolate Paratha’ failed to tickle the taste buds of the foodies. While ‘chocolate paratha,’ might sound enticing to those with a sweet tooth, the concept received scepticism and outright disapproval from many online users. Foodies argued that the combination of chocolate with the savoury base of paratha is an unsettling clash of flavours and textures.
A user urged the foodies to click the dislike button.

A flurry of similar sentiments flooded the comment sections of posts featuring the controversial dish. “I have ruined my mood in the morning,” another said. A user mentioned, “Please don’t ruin our food.”
