In a shocking claim, it has been alleged that tech-giant Microsoft had banned young interns from being alone with the company’s co-founder and billionaire Bill Gates as he would flirt with them, according to an upcoming book by New York Times journalist Anupreeta Das titled ‘Billionaire, Nerd, Savior, King: Bill Gates and His Quest to Shape Our World.’
According to The Daily mail, who accessed some excerpts from the book, it claimed that Gates, dubbed as a “kid in a candy store,” used to engage in inappropriate behaviour towards multiple women, which prompted the organisation to implement the measures.
According to New York Post report, the book explores the life and lies of the tech mogul, including his alleged infidelities, that had angered his wife Melinda for a long time.
Das wrote that it was “not unusual for Gates to flirt with women and pursue them, making unwanted advances such as asking a Microsoft employee out to dinner while he was still the company’s chairman,” and added that his alleged infidelity left his then wife Melinda French Gates “seething for a long time.”
The book also claimed that Gates “flirted with some of the interns at the Gates Foundation, putting them in the uncomfortable position of having to think about their career prospects while not wanting to be hit on by the boss.”
According to the excerpts, Bill landed into marital problems right from the start of being hitched in 1994, when he was still after Ann Winblad, a tech entrepreneur. This had initially created a major rift between the Gates couple.
However, a former Microsoft executive told Das that Gates did not “prey on” women or ask sexual favors in exchange for career advancement. “He’s not Harvey Weinstein… I know of no real situation in which anyone got anything for sleeping with Bill.”
There are reports of Melinda keeping a watch on Bill’s security, as she was of the opinion that they were enabling him to be in places, which may not be known to her. The book also claimed that the Gates marriage fell apart due to Bill not understanding the true meaning of a marital contract, and that his behavior would have consequences.
The book is set to hit stores on August 13.
