Bangalore Former Pakistan cricket captain Wasim Akram criticised the International Cricket Council (ICC) saying it had dominance of former 'gora' (white) cricketers, who made little mark during their careers.
"I am against ICC. The reason is it's run by all the goras. Passion of cricket is here in India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Money and talent is also here but nobody gets to ICC from these countries. All other cricketers, who get retired after playing two matches, work for ICC," Akram said.
The former fast bowler, who was in Bangalore to attend a promotional meet on Wednesday, said that it is the only reason why he was always keen on helping cricketers from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, who seek tips to improve their skills.
On the bilateral series between India and Pakistan, he said that pressure builds up on both sides of the border much before the action begins and rates it was more than the ashes series between England and Australia.
"It evokes tremendous excitement and so much interest that sometimes even office functioning in many parts of the two countries comes to a standstill. During the Ashes series between England and Australia, people might only be glued to their television sets, " he added.
On Pakistan's prospects in the 2007 World Cup, following a string of recent victories under their belt, Akram was skeptical.
"In India and Pakistan, we don't know what's going to happen tomorrow. The World Cup is too far, " he said.
"There are a host of possibilities before the big event. There are chances of Inzamam-ul-Haq and the coach being sacked and change of Pakistan cricket board. It's too early to say what will happen," he said.
