TIRUANGADI: In a shocking incident, a 12-year-old boy was sexually abused by a man for nearly a month in a shed at Veliyankodu near Ponnani. The police arrested the man, Thattankollil Abdul Latheef, 33, a native of Veliyankodu near Ponnani, on Wednesday with the boy. The man was keeping the boy locked in a shed near his house for one month and was having sex with him. The incident occurred after the boy ran away from his house a month ago. The boy met Abdul Latheef at the Kozhikode railway station. He coaxed him to go with him and took him to a lodge in the city. He forcefully had sex with the boy in the lodge. Later, he shifted him to a nearby shed in his house. He gave drugs and liquor to the boy and continued abusing him. The boy managed to send an SMS to his mother from a phone describing his situation. The parents had lodged a complaint about their missing child. The police started investigation about the source of message and they nabbed Abdul Latheef along with the boy from Ponnani. “Latheef is also a culprit in a similar case registered in Ponnani police station. He had also been sentenced in some other criminal cases,” A Umesh, Tirurangadi Inspector of Police, said. There were cases of pickpocketing and robbery registered against Abdul Latheef.
